I was very privileged to attend a board meeting in Haiti for the NGO Fondation Enfant Jesus. I would be staying in Port-Au-Prince for a week. Despite the fact that, It was all work, I was able to sneak in a few sight seeing trips around the city. Haiti is a beautifully, mountainous country. I have so many friends an acquaintances of Haitian descent so I was very excited to visit their motherland. For those familiar with the towns in the capital, I stayed further up the mountain in Thomassin and Oubleon. Both towns provide beautiful scenery of the mountains and the entire city. I was in awe and only hoped to one day acquire a beautiful home in the mountains. Haiti is close to home. Upon arrival, I felt connected. It is so crazy that we(Africans and its descendants) have been separated for hundred of years yet, when I arrived the country, I immediately felt as though I was back home(Cameroon). Despite the distance, our bond is strong. Another trip to Haiti awaits me. This time around, I plan to visit the northern and southern regions. They have so much history and culture.
