Hi all, with the excitement going on with democratic elections throughout the world, it is only right that I acknowledge these 3 ladies who stood out. Have you all noticed that, quite a few women are securing high positions of power in their respective governments? Slowly but surely, the world is moving in the right direction :).
Bidhya Devi Bhandari was recently elected president of Nepal. She is know for championing minority and women's right in her country. She has definitely made history and is an inspiration to not only young Nepalese girls, but to girls all over the world.
Dr. Ameenah Gurib-Fakim was recently elected as the first female president of Mauritius ( A small Island nation in Africa). She is such an intelligent woman who will lead her country forward. Check out her Ted-Talk here to get more information on her.
Samia Suluhu Hassan was recently elected first female Vice President of Tanzania. The mother of 4 has been very active in the Tanzanian political sphere and we can see it paying off. I look forward to reading the impact she will make in her country.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post as much as I did. If you aren't already aware, I have a background in women's studies and take pride in promoting strong women breaking barriers and making changes globally.
